Clandestino de Menade VEGAN - 750ml Bottle
The desire to make new wines, to return to traditional elaborations and to take advantage of all the resources that the grape contributes, led us to launch a new line, diverse to white wines, which are marketed under the Clandestino by Menade brand.
This new line continues with the same philosophy in the field and in production as the rest of the winery's wines: Wines without makeup, with personality and authenticity.
Clandestino Tinto is made with Tinta de Toro from vines of more than 100 years planted in a glass and with low yield. The must is fermented with wild yeasts in small stainless steel tanks and punching is done without seeking much extraction. After the alcoholic one, the malolactic fermentation develops spontaneously. The wine is not filtered, but decants naturally and sulfur is not added.
"Clandestino is an organic wine made in the vineyards of the wonderful Menade family with bush vines over 100 years old. All picked by hand and it shows in the wonderful texture of this amazing wine. Made from 100% tempranillo it has an intense purple colour with violet glints. Very attractive to swirl in your glass and you can spend a long time doing this along with sniffing the heavenly aromas which lift from the glass with this action. On the nose it is full of cherries, blueberries, black pepper and there is an earthiness in the background giving it a sense of place. This is not your everyday vino. You know you are going into something special here. On the palate it is tangy, with again cherry, blueberry and some red fruits coming through. Very balanced with smooth tannins and a long, very long finish which is firm, rounded and harmonious.
Would match roast dinners, steak, cold meats, mushroom risotto and of course wonderful cheese. This is a special wine. Very Spanish and unforgettable. Enjoy this weekend even though the sun is not shining it shines out of this bottle of vino
It falls under the DO Rueda which is a Spanish geographic vineyard area and sits in the Castilla Leon region of Spain. This is an unbearably cold region in winter and a very hot region in summer. The region was once a roman trade route nicknamed the Milky Way by travellers as it followed the Milky Way to the Atlantic. Leon is the last major city before it climbs west into the mountains and is an area of astonishing beauty. This is the window of the Spanish soul, the land of El Cid and where the Spanish language was born. More importantly it sits at the gateway to the Camino de Santiago where pilgrims make their way to Galicia." Maggy Smith, Dip.WSET
